You know those hot and humid days when the sun is just blazing down mercilessly? When you have just stepped out of the shower but beads of sweat are already forming on your forehead? Or when you wish you can take part in the ice-bucket challenge all over again?
Those are the times when I just want to slurp something cold and refreshing. Something that feels like an ice-cream soft serve but without the calories and unwanted sugar. This lusciously smooth cream bowl is my perfect answer for hot humid mornings.
Using frozen bananas and blueberries for the cream base results in a deliciously thick and velvety smooth base, which resembles that of whipped cream. The acai powder and blueberries provide a double dose of antioxidants to keep you alert and energetic. Acai berries are known to be high in omega 6 & 9 fatty acids and may help to reduce LDL-cholesterol level and raise good HDL-cholesterol levels. These good fatty compounds also mean a more glowing, beautiful complexion.
So delicious and so not-sinful. Who will say no to all these goodness!
Recipe: Blueberry Acai Cream Bowl
For Cream Base:
- 1 tbsp Acai Powder (I use the brand Sambazon)
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
- 1/2 cup soy milk (unsweetened)
- 2 tbsp granola
- 1 tsp sunflower seeds
- 1 tsp raisins
- 1 tsp flax seeds
- Blend Acai powder with soy milk till well-combined
- Put in frozen banana and blueberries and blend till smooth and creamy
- Add toppings to finish
